When I laid down
To greet
Your sacred offering
Masked by shadows
You watched
As I covered myself
With your fallen grace
To be born unto
These lies I cling to
Truth, stripped away
Not a single drop remains
To be claimed
As if we were owed anything
Beyond the recognition
Of time’s cruel waltz
A slow dance between fractures
Vision tainted with tincture
Of possibility
That one day, the dawn
Will last forever
